Moving out of AOK Norwegen, and in to (Geb)AOK 20, formerly “AOK Lappland”. It is the XIX (Geb) Armeekorps that controls arctic Norwegian and Finnish coastal areas.
The Norwegian coast is commanded by I.D 210. Seekommandant Kirkenes and Artilleriekommandeur Kirkenes, HKAR 837 were situated in Kirkenes.

This unit came to Norway as two different platoons, intended for “Gebirgs-Korps-Norwegen” in Finland. Originally placed at Petsamo Fjord and Liinahamari.

HKB 3/ 480 Berlevaag (3/ 448 )
Equipped with 6 x 14,5 cm K405(f) guns, range 19 000 m. Formed in Nürnberg in April 42, ready in may 42. Evacuated in Dec 44.

HKB 4/ 480 Gamvik
Equipped with 6 x 14,5 cm K405(f) guns, range 19 000 m. Ready in Jan 42, evacuated in Oct 44.

HKB 5/ 480 Mehavn (1/ 442 )
Equipped with 4 x 14,5 cm K405(f) guns, range 19 000 m. Formed in Landsberg / Lech in March 42, ready in April 42. Evacuated in Oct 44.

MKB 1/ 513 Tana
Equipped with 3 x 13 cm L/55(r). Originally designed 3/513, ready in April 41. The fortress was blown up by its own crew during the evacuation in 44, as many others were too.

Equipped with 3 x 21 cm Mrs 18 guns, range 16 000 m. Ready in June 41, evacuated in Oct 44.

MKB 3/ 513 Kiberg 
Equipped with 3 x 28 cm SKL/45 guns, range 34 000 m.
Also equipped with 1 x 15 cm flare gun, 2 x 7,5 cm Field guns, 3 x 7,5 cm PAKs, 1 x 4,7 cm PAK, 8 x 20 mm light FLAK guns, 7 floodlights and a mine field consisting of 1010 mines.
Combat ready in June 41 as a part of ”Nordverstärkung”. Originally designed btt 8/513. Was engaged in combat with advancing Soviet ground based forces during their offensive, blown up by its own crew in Oct 44.

MKB 4/ 513 Vardö
Equipped with 4 x 8,8 cm FLAK 37 AA guns, range 14 000 m. Ready in may 41, evacuated to MKB 3/516 in Oct 44.

Equipped with 4 x  10,5 cm K331(f) guns, range 12 000 m. Ready in June 41, blown up by its own crew in Oct 44.
 

HKB 6/ 478 Guldsmedvika ( 541 )
Equipped with 4 x  10,5 cm K331(f) guns, range 12 000 m. Originally designed “Btt Oksebaasneset.” Evacuated in Oct 44, but the ship on which the guns were transported, was sunk by a torpedo attack.

MKB 3/ 517 Kirkenes (1/ 513 )
Equipped with 3 x 15 cm Uto c/16 L/45, range 16 000 m. Ready in Oct 40, evacuated in Oct 44.

MKB 4/ 517 Mestersand (7/ 513 )
Equipped with 4 x 24 cm SKL/40 guns, range 26 000 m. Ready in Dec 41 as a part of ”Nordverstärkung”. The staff of HKAA 478 was here, so was most of 1st Company of “Festungs-Infanterie-Batallion 664”.MKB 4/517 participated in the fighting against advancing Soviet forces, but was blown up by its own crew in Oct 44.

The Germans started the building of a Torpedo unit at Bökfjord. This never got ready.

“Stützpunktgruppe Kirkenes”
Staff HKAR 837, “Wachtkompanie Kirkenes”, Staff “Festungs-Infanterie-Batallion 664”, 1st and 4th  Company (Fest.Inf.Bat 664), 4th Company / Fest.Inf.Bat. 661, One squad & HMG-team from 2nd Company / Fest.Inf.Bat. 664, about 320 men from “Organisation Todt”, 1st and 2nd Flak-Scheinwerfer-Abteilung 389 (Floodlight unit), 6./ Flak-Regiment 46 (mot), and 1st / 2nd Company from I.R 352.

There were several “Infanterie-Stützpunkte” (Perimeter positions) in Varanger, among them Grense Jakobselv, Kobbholmen, Lille-Jarfjord, “Tårnet”, and Myrslett. The latter included 61 men from “Gebirgs-Nebelwerfer-Abteilung 10”.

HKB 1/ 773 Ristiniemmi ( 885 )
Equipped with 4 x 15,5 cm K418(f) guns, range 19 000 m. Ready in July 41. Attacked by Soviet forces, and blown up by its own crew in Oct 44.

HKB 2/ 773 Liinahamari ( 454 )
Equipped with 2 x 21 cm K39/40, range 30 000 m. Ready in Aug 43. Attacked by Soviet forces, and blown up by its own crew in Oct 44.

MKB 1/ 517 Kap Romanov (6/ 513 ) (MKB Brommy, Memel-Ostsee)
Equipped with 4 x 15 cm SKC/28 guns in twin mounts, range 22 000 m. Ready in Dec 41 as a part of ”Nordverstärkung”. Usually called ”Batterie Sensenhauser” after its commander, oberleutnant Sensenhauser. This unit was, like the others in this area, frequently engaged in artillery duels with Soviet Coastal artillery units. Attacked by Soviet ground forces in Oct 44, blown up by own crew.

MKB 2/ 517 Petsamo (5/ 513 )
Equipped with 4 x 15 cm SKL/40 C/97, range 16 000 m, and 2 x 15 cm SKC/28 in a twin turret, range 23 000 m. Ready in Oct 41. Frequently used for shooting at the Soviet airfield Pumanki. Attacked by Soviet forces, and blown up by own crew. The turreted guns were tried evacuated by ship, but this was sunk.

North-west of Liinahamari the Germans planned to build a 30,5 cm battery called ”Suomi”. It never got operational.

All fortifications ready, weapons never arrived

Some of the Heeres-Küsten-Batterien never were used for coastal warfare, but were instead assigned to Gebirgs-Korps-Norwegen, and used as regular field artillery.
These were: HKB 546, 580, 869, 562 and 543.

HKB 869 - was equipped with 15.5 cm Polish Howitzers.
HKB 562 - was equipped with 10.5 cm K331.
