ARTILLERIEGRUPPE FREDRIKSTAD

Art.Gr. Fredrikstad, HKAA 980
Established in March 45 instead of the former Art.U.Gr Rauöy. It consisted of 5 batteries:

HKB 6/ 980 Torgauten ( 593 )
Equipped with 4 x 10 cm K 17/04 guns with effective range 14 000 m. Originally established in Germany ’41, and moved to Torgauten same year. One unit was added in September ’44, with 2 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f) guns, and it was placed at Mörvika.

HKB 7/ 980 Kjököen ( 589 )
Equipped with 4 x 10 cm K 17/04, range 15 000 m, and 2 x 8,8 cm FLAK (r), range 14 000 m. The 10 cm’s were ready installed in May 41, and the 8,8’s in April ’43.

HKB 17/ 971 Dale
Equipped with 4 x 15,5 cm sFH 414 (f), range 11 100 m. Former designation: "Batterie Kvalsund", moved to Dale in April ’45.
Note: at Knatteröd Railwaystation was Railwayartillery-“Eisenbahn-Batterie 689” with 2 x 28 cm Bruno’s. This was however not assigned to the Coastal Artillery.
 
 

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE MAAKERÖY

Artilleriegruppe Maakeröy
Art.Gr. Maakeröy, MAA 501. Originally ”MAA Horten”. Commander: Korv.Kpt Wegener.

HKB 8/ 980 Kongshavn ( 983 -37/ 979)
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f) guns, range 11 000 m. Situated at Bolärne. Ready in June ’44.

MKB 3/ 501 Bolärne
Equipped with 4 x 15 cm L 50 Bofors, range 19 500 m.

MKB 4/ 501 Toraas
Equipped with 4 x 15 cm L 50 Bofors, range 19 500 m.

MKB 6/ 501 Nötteröy
Equipped with 3 x 38 cm KM 36/35 (f), range 42 000 m. Was ordered to Vardaasen in March ’44. Not combat ready before the war ended.

MKB 2 / Marineersatzabteilung (5/ 501 ) Oscarsborg
Equipped with 3 x 28 cm L 40. Range 20 000 m. (These guns, mounted in 1892, manned by Norwegians managed to stop the Battleship Blücher)
MKB 2 also had: “Torpedobatterie Kaholm” with 3 torpedo launchers, which used Norwegian 45 cm torpedoes & “Alarmbatterie Horten” with 3 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f) guns, range 16 000 m. Manned by crews from HKAA I/980.

MKB 2/ 501 Rauöy
Equipped with 4 x 15 cm SKL /45, range 16 000 m. Rauöy was also used as the site of an artillery school.

MKB 1/ 501 Dröbak
Equipped with 3 x 15 cm L 47,5 Armstrong guns. Transferred to Finland in connection with operation ”Tanne” in June ’44. (The occupation of the Finnish islands)
 
 

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE LARVIK

Artilleriegruppe Larvik
Art.Gr.Larvik, HKAA I/ 980 (HKAA 494 ) was formed in March ’41 in Ansbach, and it was transferred to Norway in April-May same year. Consisted of 6 batteries, commander: Maj. Günther.

HKB I/ 980 Langesund ( 984 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f) guns, range 16 000 m. established in April-May ’41.

HKB 2/ 908 Nevlungshavn ( 887 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f), range 16 000 m. And 2 x 8,8 cm FLAK (r), range 14 000 m. The latter arrived in March ’43.

HKB 3/ 980 Rakke ( 888 )
Equipped with 4 x 12 cm K 370 (b), range 15 000 m. Rakke was frequently used for crew education and live shooting exercises.

HKB 4/ 980 Malmöen 
Equipped with 4 x 8,8 cm FLAK (r), range 14 000 m. Established in April ’43.

HKB 5/ 980 Vesteröen ( 889 )
Equipped with 4 x 12 cm K 370 (b), range 15 000 m. Established in April ’43. 

Heeresküsten-Lehr- Batterie Stavern
Controlled by HKAA I/ 980. Equipped with 2 x 15,5 cm sFH 414 (f) transferred from "Batterie Kjeöya" in January ’43. Also equipped with 4 x 8,38 cm British guns, range 6 000 m. 
This unit was not primarily for combat use, just for educational and demonstration purposes.

Moving out of territorialabschnitt Oslofjord, and in to Terr.abs.Stavanger. Units from I.D 274 occupied this area, commander Gen.Lt. Weckmann.
The naval commander in Kristiansand was Kpt.z.See Kiderlen; army artillery commander was Oberst Lindner from HKAR 979. Attached were 4 Art.Gr, and 2 Art.U.Gr
 
 

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE ARENDAL

Art.Gr.Arendal, HKAA III/ 979 ( HKAA 497 ). 
Established in Taus/Olmütz in Austria in March ’41, and sent to Norway. CO: Hauptmann di Pol.
 

HKB 33 / 979 Hisöen ( 979 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f), range 16 000 m.

HKB 35 / 979 Risör ( 981 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f), range 16 000 m.

HKB 36 / 979 Skaatöy ( 982 )
Equipped with 2 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f), range 16 000 m. It got supplied with additional guns: 2 x 8,8 cm FLAK (r), range 14 000 m, in April ’43.

HKB 34 / 979 Flostaöen (17/ 981 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f) guns, range 11 000. These replaced the original 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f) guns, which was moved out of Norway in august ’44.

HKB 37 / 979 Trolldalen ( 983 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332, range 16 000 m. Operational in May ’41 – Nov ’43. The guns were sent to Horten after this, and the crew to Bolärne.

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE KRISTIANSAND

Art.Gr.Kristiansand, MAA 502. CO: Korv.Kpt Gerhards. Established in April ’40. At the end of the war it was renamed “Art.Gr.Festung Kristiansand”, and it consisted of 2 Art.U.Gr.

5./ 569 Kristiansand S 
Flak unit belonging to Flakrgt 92. Equipped with 2 cm AA guns

MKB 2/ 502 Kjaere
Equipped with 3 x 15 cm L 47,5 Armstrong guns, range 12 000 m. It had an additional 1 x 15 cm SKL 45 gun designed for flare-grenades.

MKB 3/ 502 Flekkeröy
Equipped with 2 x 21 cm St. Chamond guns, range 16 000 m. This guns originally came from Odderöya.

MKB 5/ 502 Odderöy
Equipped with 4 x 24 cm heavy howitzers. Not manned until summer ’42.

MKB 6/ 502 Vara
Equipped with 3 x 38 cm SKC 34 guns, range 42 000 m. Got supplied with a FLAK unit from Luftwaffe (Batterie 303./III) with 4 x 8,8 cm Flak 37 guns, and a 15 cm SKL 45 gun located at Randöya (flare-grenades)

Batterie Randöen (1/ 502)
Equipped with 3 x 15 cm L 47,5 Armstrongs, and 1 x SKL 45 15 cm gun for flare grenades.
Moved in June ’44 during operation ”Tanne”. Only the SKL 45 remained, and got assigned to Btt Vara.

Flak unit belonging to Flakregt. 92. Equipped with 2 cm AA guns.

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE MANDAL

Art.Gr.Mandal, HKAA II/ 979 (HKAA 493), formed in Ansbach in March ’41, sent to Norway. CO was Maj. Lifka. Consisted of 3 battery’s, but was totally reorganised after experiences from the Battles at Normandy.

HKB 18/ 979 Landehovden (1/ 773 - 643 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f) guns, range 12 000 m. Originally called “Btt. Signalen”. 

HKB 19/ 979 Skadberg ( 519 )
Equipped with 4 x 15,5 cm K 416 (f) guns, range 17 000 m. Established in Mandal in March ’41 with French guns as a replacement for “Btt Mandal” which was equipped with Norwegian 10,5 cm guns. Temporarily transferred to Landehovde, and in August ’44 the unit finally moved to Skadberg.

Art.U.Gr Sögne (under HKAA II/ 979)

HKB 20/ 979 Moen ( 973 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f), range 16 000 m. Originally located at Aalo in ’41, moved to Moen in Aug ’44.

HKB 21/ 979 Ny Hellesund (5/ 751 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331 (f), range 11 000 m. This unit got formed as an independent art. unit in Germany July ’42, deployed to Norway in March ’43.
 
 

ARTILLERIEGRUPPE VANSE

Art.Gr. Vanse, HKAA III/ 978 . Commander: Maj. Clemens. Belonged originally to HKAR 979, but in April 44 it was deployed to HKAR 978, and the batteries changed numbers. In February 45 it was reassigned to HKAR 979, and had 6 battery’s.

HKB 21/ 978 Hitteröy (1/ 979 - 975 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f), range 16 000 m. 

HKB  22/ 978 Varnes Fyr (2/ 979 – 3/ 447 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f), range 16 000 m. Deployed to Norway from Braunschweig in August 1942.

HKB 23/ 978 Marka ( 512 )
Equipped with 6 x 15 cm K 16, range 22 000 m.

HKB 24/ 978 Lodshavn ( 516 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 332 (f), range 16 000 m. Originally designed “Batterie Farsund” with 4 x 10,5 (N) guns. 

HKB 25/ 978 Husvik (16/ 979 – 4/ 751 )
Equipped with 4 x 10,5 cm K 331, range 16 000 m, and 2 x 8,8 cm FLAK (r).
Also equipped with 2 x 20mm AA guns, 30/mk.38 and 2 x 4,7 cm PAKs (Kwk). This battery is restored as a Museum.

MKB 5/ 503 Nordberg (4/ 502 )
Equipped with 3 x 15 cm Uto C 16 L /45, range 16 000 m. Deployed from Lista.
